Code Of Conduct
Toprak Textiles as a strongly expanding textile sourcing agency, feels that it is increasingly important to take responsibility for all our actions. In order to make our position clear to our clients, our manufacturers, our own staff, as well as any other parties we have set up a Code of Conduct. It is a non-negotiable requirement from our side that all our employees without exception should follow this code.
Child Labor
Toprak Textiles shall not use child labor. “Child” is defined as a person who is not older than the local age for completing compulsory education but in no event is less than 15 years of age. Toprak Textiles must verify the age of their workers and maintain copies of their workers proof of age. Toprak Textiles must follow all applicable laws and regulations regarding working hours and conditions for minors.
Involuntary Labor
Toprak Textiles shall not use involuntary labor. “Involuntary Labor” is defined as work or service which is extracted from any person under threat or penalty for its non-performance and for which the employee does not offer himself or herself voluntarily.
Disciplinary Practices
Toprak Textiles shall not use corporal punishment or any other form of physical or psychological coercion or intimidation against employees.
Non-discrimination
Toprak Textiles shall employ workers solely on the basis of their ability to do the job, and shall not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, racial characteristics. Maternity, or marital status, nationality or cultural, religious or personal benefits or otherwise in relation to hiring, wages, benefits, termination or retirement.
Health and Safety
Toprak Textiles shall maintain a clean, safe and healthy workplace in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Toprak Textiles shall ensure that employees have access to clean drinking water, adequate toilets, fire-extinguishers, and fire exits and that workplaces provide adequate lighting and ventilation. Toprak Textiles shall ensure that the aforementioned standards are met in any canteen which is provided for the employees.
First Aid
Toprak Textiles shall maintain First Aid equipment available in the workplace, at least one person in the organization should have training in basic First aid. The employer should pay any costs ( not covered by social security) which an employer may incur for medical care, following an injury during work.
Environmental Protection
The environment is of increasing concern globally and Toprak Textiles expects all its employees to act responsibly in this respect. Toprak Textiles shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations in respect to protecting the environment and maintain procedures for notifying local authorities in the event of an environmental accident resulting in the workplace.
Wages , Benefits and Working hours
Wages shall be paid regularly, on time and be fair in respect of weak performances. Toprak Textiles shall provide wages and benefits that comply with all applicable laws and regulations and match the prevailing local manufacturing or industry rates, whichever is higher. Weekly working time must not exceed the legal limit, and overtime work should always be voluntary and paid at a premium rate not below the legal minimum according to national law. The employees should be granted their stipulated annual leave and sick leave without any form of repercussions. Female employees should be given their stipulated maternity leave in case of pregnancy. Dismissal of pregnant female employees is not acceptable. Toprak Textiles shall provide the employees with at least one free meal daily.
Freedom of Association
Toprak Textiles shall respect the rights of employees to associate, organize, and bargain collectively in a legal and peaceful manner.
Intellectual Property Rights
Toprak Textiles shall guarantee that products, models, designs, material, patterns, marks, symbols, logotypes, texts and similar, delivered by or otherwise originating from him do not in any way infringe or otherwise violate the intellectual property of any third party. If Toprak Textiles delivers designs, logotypes, embroideries or similar to manufacturers for production, the manufacturer is not entitled to transfer or grant a third party use of thereof without Toprak Textiles’s prior written consent. Familiarization and Display of This Code of Conduct Toprak Textiles shall familiarize employees with this Code of Conduct and display this Code of Conduct, translated in the local language, at the workplace in a place readily visible and accessible to employers.
Legal Requirements
Toprak Textiles shall comply with all legal requirements applicable to the conduct of its businesses, including those set out above.
Monitoring of Compliance
Toprak Textiles shall carry internal inspections annually and issue the report to its employees and business partners for the purpose of ensuring compliance with this Code of Conduct.
